Perfect wireless remote replacement for any remote garage door openers (I attached mine to the inside garage wall to replace two hard wired openers), or perfect inside vehicles to cover two garage doors in one unit. The two doors can be programmed differently and works for almost all door openers. My application was for two 15 year old Stanley garage door openers. Only issue was understanding the number of 'clicks' to input to designate the particular manufacturer one has. When you select one of the unit's switches to program by clicking it, that is one of the clicks the instructions then ask you to repeat for the manufacturer you have (in my case 16 clicks for Stanley). In error I kept putting the 16 clicks in after I clicked the switch I wanted to program (which made the number 17 and it did not work). Once that error was recognized I simply programmed each of the unit's two switches for each of my two door openers by copying the 10-12 'dip switch' settings from each of the original door openers onto the Chamberlain unit's internal 'dip switches' (you repeat this process for each garage door opener). The 10-12 'dip switch' settings are visible on the original garage units or inside the original hand held units (at least for my Stanley products). Entire process took 15 minutes once I wrote down the original door opener 'dip switch' settings. I'm totally satisfied, great for the price, size and utility!
The Chamberlain Universal Remote works with all major brands of garage door openers. The remote control can be programmed to activate up to two products, such as a garage door opener, gate operator or commercial door operator. Easily programs wirelessly to the garage door opener and does not require you to cut into wiring or install an unsightly received in your garage.
I bought this after upgrading my garage door opener. Pairing this new remote to the opener was very some although not intuitive at all. You must follow the instructions. You can programming this to seemingly any garage door without using dip switches or having to take the remote apart. It operates well and has great range. I like the size of it and I appreciate that the spring clip is strong. For the money it wasn't much less than what I cod have bought from the repair company, however I think purchasing the item through site to store was less of a hassle than driving out to a service center and searching for the right remote, as this universal covers my needs and will probably work with any other door if I move to a new home. This remote was the best option for me. I may go buy another.
This universal remote will only work if your door/gate opener has a "learn" button OR uses dipswitches. The remote is not capable of learning remote codes any other way (ie: it is not like homelink, where you can hold the old remote to the new remote and the new remote will learn the code.) I am still recommending the product because if you have the learn button or dipswitches, it works fine.
I was suspicious about this product due to the mixed reviews about it. This is why I am taking the time to voice my opinion and the fact that it took 5 minutes to setup two garage Genie doors with this product. I have a 1998/1999 Door and for the Genie users, do the following: - Locate the program button on the remote/Click - Locate the learning button on the garage door/Click (it will start flashing) - Click on the remote (I or II) for either 5 or 6 times, after each click wait until the flashing on the remote stops! - After the 5th or 6th click, the learning button on your Garage will stop flashing and it will have solid light! this is the indicator to stop - Click on the programming button to end the programming - Click on the opener button ..first click will not do anything. Second click, the door operates. Good luck! The product is excellent and definitely worth looking at again! It is actually easier to setup than the Genie remote openers! They don't look good and not as easy to setup.

Our remotes were from 1989 or 1990, we do not have the safe guarded motion on our doors. I was concerned that our old remotes were too far outdated to work on a newer model. Our old remotes were pretty much worthless, but I had to try this option first before buying the whole newer garage door system (big bucks), we are seniors, so we had our son-in-law program it. Took him 15 mins for BOTH doors. Sure wish I would of bought these sooner. I ordered them on-line, were in stock, with in 2 hours they were waiting at pick-up. I did not have to go to the store looking for them, traisping all around. I could of had these delivered but I was out and about anyway. Love Wal-Mart and shopping on line. No lines, just go to pick-up counter.
